Networking & Donors

Networking

In a city starved of facilities for the differently abled, we strongly feel the need to share the benefit of our experience with a larger number of parents/caregivers such that their differently abled adults may lead a life with dignity & self esteem. We are thus already reaching out to Institutes/Parent groups that would like to start a similar service of their own.

In 2009, we received funding from Lewis Foundation, UK, through an Indian NGO support organization, DASRA with the objective to strengthen The Anchorage and facilitate dissemination. Dissemination was facilitated by development of a training manual which encompasses every aspect of the Anchorage. An accompanying audio visual provides actual glimpses into the day to day processes. Manual content has been encapsulated in a power point presentation to serve as a training aid.

Project funding provided the opportunity to network with 11 organizations for mutual influence & benefit- C.A.Kathrani residential school, Baroda, Swayamsiddh school, Aurangabad, Special Care Centre, Mumbai, Sankalp, a special school in Mumbai, Kshitij a sheltered workshop in Mumbai, spastic society Bangalore, Aashrey centre for special children, Mumbai, JBCN School for slow learners, Mumbai. This has been a heartening experience.

Please do contact us if you are so inclined. We will be happy to network and support all such endeavours.

Vedant Modi Memorial Fund (VMMF)

Vedant Modi, son of our founder member, Swarupa and Praful Modi passed away on 12th October, 2005. He embodied the best of what The Anchorage stands for, at all times, asserting his right of living with dignity. He loved all the good things of life. He much influenced his peers and is largely responsible for the current ethos of the workshop. A Vedant Modi Memorial Fund (VMMF) has been set up in his memory. It will be dedicated to further the perception and social acceptance of differently abled adults in India. It will also be used for developing educational aids for the differently abled and provide medical support to those in need ( members & staff) at the Anchorage.

Donors

We would like to thank all our donors and job work suppliers for supporting us in keeping our members gainfully occupied.

Anita Kumbhani, Director of The Anchorage received the ” Rotary Vocational Excellence Award” from the Rotary club of Bombay Queen city together with a cheque of Rs 50000/- for The Anchorage for the year 2023-2024.
